Foundational Tech ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

Data controller

What data we collect

We collect minimal data to operate and improve this site:

Email address — if you subscribe to our newsletter via the Substack subscription form embedded on this site.
Analytics data — anonymised usage data (pages visited, session duration, referral source, device type) collected via Google Analytics 4 (property ID: G-VBN3J9PLMZ).
Purchase information — if you buy a product through Gumroad, they collect payment and contact details as the payment processor. We receive your name, email, and purchase details but never see your payment card information.

We do not collect sensitive personal data, and we do not sell your data to third parties.

Cookies

This site uses a limited number of cookies:

Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — used to distinguish users and sessions for anonymised analytics. These cookies expire after 2 years and 24 hours respectively.
Cloudflare cookies (__cf_bm) — used for bot detection and performance optimisation. These are strictly necessary for the site to function and expire after 30 minutes.

You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your experience of the site.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate this site. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

Substack — newsletter delivery and subscription management. When you subscribe, your email is stored by Substack under their privacy policy.
Cloudflare — website hosting, CDN, and DDoS protection.
Google Analytics — anonymised website analytics to help us understand which content is useful.
Gumroad — payment processing for digital product purchases.

Some articles on this site contain affiliate links to software tools and services we recommend. These links are marked with rel="nofollow sponsored" attributes. If you purchase through an affiliate link, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Data retention

Newsletter subscription data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email, and your data will be removed from our mailing list. Analytics data is retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, after which it is automatically deleted.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
